Program Details

Grade 9 Focus: Self-Leadership
First year students will explore the foundations of leadership by learning self-leadership. In this year, students will engage in experiential learning to include: service projects throughout the year, mentoring, team-based exercises, single adventure day event (such as ropes course). This takes place in a weekly FLI meeting. Topics covered include:

  • The Foundation of Character
  • Time-Management
  • Personal, Spiritual, and Mental Discipline
  • Integrity
  • Self-Awareness

Curriculum for the grade nine FLI class: The Art of Self-Leadership by Tim Elmore.

Grade 10 Focus: Identity
Second year student will explore self-awareness, identity, and calling so they know how God designed them to function in relationships and leadership. Students will draft Personal I.D. Statement, a summary of their identity, life calling, unique shape and spiritual gifts. This takes place in a weekly FLI meeting. In this year, students will engage in experiential learning to include: service projects throughout the year, mentoring, and team-based exercises (such as ropes courses) culminating in a multi-day backpacking trip. Topics covered in the weekly FLI meeting include:

  • Our identity in the Messiah.
  • How identity impacts everything else.
  • How to identify and align with Jesus’ identity in us.
  • How to know and walk in God’s call through relationships, spiritual authority, and wisdom.
  • How to discover our unique shape and spiritual gifts.

Curriculum for the grade ten FLI class: Introduction to Life Purpose by David Snyder.

Grade 11 Focus: Vision
Third year students will focus on defining their life vision and establishing clear goals using their Personal I.D. Statement. There is an emphasis on understanding and defining kingdom vision and goals. This takes place in a weekly FLI meeting. In this year, students will engage in experiential learning to include: service projects throughout the year, mentoring younger students, team-based exercises (such as ropes courses), attendance at Experiencing Freedom (a four-day retreat experience), business/organizational apprenticeship, and a trip to Boston or Washington D.C. Topics covered in the weekly FLI meeting include:

  • Discovering God’s eternal purpose in Jesus.
  • Define life purpose in the context of God’s eternal purpose.
  • Learn to identify and define kingdom goals.
  • Begin to learn how to plan and execute goals.

Grade 12 Focus: Action
Fourth year students will focus on actualizing their identity, calling, and goals through a year-long business, organizational, or ministry project. The emphasis is on setting goals and bringing them to fruitfulness in a directed, protected environment. This takes place in a weekly FLI meeting. In this year, students will engage in experiential learning to include: yearly leadership project, mentoring younger students, team-based exercises (such as ropes courses), business/organizational apprenticeship, and a trip to Israel. Topics covered in the weekly FLI meeting include:

  • How to build relationships with others to multiply God’s kingdom.
  • How to lead, plan, and execute as a leadership discipline.
